Job Summary

Langan is seeking an Environmental Planner/CEQA Practitioner/Project Manager to join its collaborative team in Santa Barbara, CA. This individual will serve a key function in servicing and growing Langan’s CEQA services business line for our clients in a broad range of sectors such as energy, residential and commercial development, health, hospitality, entertainment, airports, education and government. We are looking for a professional that is committed to delivering technically excellent services, being responsive to clients’ needs, and striving to improve their professional skill set and supporting their colleagues to do the same. The position will involve conducting analysis, preparation of technical reports, project management, representing Langan to current and future clients, and pursuing business development. In this role, you will have the opportunity to further develop your professional expertise while working on exciting and impactful small and large-scale projects.

Job Responsibilities Conduct CEQA analysis and prepare associated documents (e.g. Initial Studies, Mitigated Negative Declarations, Environmental Impact Reports, etc.); Conduct CEQA analysis for programmatic plans and documents; Maintain improve/update strong practical knowledge of CEQA and NEPA guidelines and regulations; Conduct constraints analyses and comprehensive environmental due diligence reviews; Prepare and support technical studies; Review and integrate technical investigation methods and findings into CEQA documents and permit applications; Prepare documents that are defensible; Manage and deliver on multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines; Effectively organize, write and edit draft proposals, reports and other documents;  Participate in the identification and pursuit of new clients and new prospective projects; Develop opportunities for additional work within existing projects; Attend business development meetings to encourage relationships with new and existing clients; Provide direct oversight and management of staff for specific project assignments; Coordinate/collaborate with other work groups across office locations and disciplines; and Perform other duties as requested. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental planning, or other related technical degree; 5+ years of related work experience; Proven proficiency in leading CEQA analyses and permitting; Preference to those with practical experience in preparing NEPA documentation; Strong working relationships with agency staffs; Comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements; Excellent public speaking, written, and verbal communication skills; Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities; Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment; Ability to multi-task effectively, manage multiple projects and clients, develop and manage project budgets, and effectively manage and coach staff; Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as projects require; and Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.

Base Salary Range: $82,500 - $103,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. This position is also eligible for straight-time overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm.
