Environmental Lead, Infrastructure – Future Opportunity

Job Summary:

You are an experienced Environmental Lead, with exposure to major civil projects. You will play a key role in the successful delivery of the project. You will have direct responsibility for leading a team of professionals to champion the health and safety of all employees on our project sites. Utilizing your experience within installing environmental controls and mitigation measures to safeguard water, air, and soil quality and protection of wildlife and habitat, you will work with and act as a resource to front line supervisors and operations staff to achieve our goal of zero incidents. You are a problem solver and continuously look for innovative solutions that can be utilized on projects.

Essential Responsibilities:

Takes responsibility for mentoring, training, and coaching of site's Environmental personnel.Advises, ensures and is responsible for implementation of Environmental program on project site(s).Perform field inspections; erosion and sedimentation controls, turbidity monitoring, noise and vibration, air quality, soil management, groundwater and stormwater management, invasive species monitoring, Tree Cut Permitting, Conservation Authority, and Permit to Take Water/Environmental Activity Sector Registry PermittingFamiliar with construction excavation, trenching, Environmental Site Assessments, as well as concrete washout management, piling, structural erection, and earthworksReview inspection and testing results for conformity to requirementsCollaborate with Operations and provide input on the Quality requirements for the development of Detailed Execution Plans; clearly identifying the required inspections, hold points, tests and required documentation.Understand and interpret applicable contract documents, codes of construction and regulatory standards.Presents information clearly and in appropriate style and makes technical information clear.Schedules inspection and testing resources to support the requirements of operations.Ensures all Inspection and Testing equipment is managed in accordance with the equipment calibration requirements.Ensure non-conforming work is being managed in accordance with the project quality issues reporting procedures.Monitors the project schedule to ensure inspection and testing activities are completed to support operations requirements.Manage and maintain Quality Document LogsEffectively communicates revisions to drawings, codes, and/or specifications.Reviews, reports, and act on performance metrics

Qualifications

Possesses a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in chemical, civil or Environmental engineering.5+ years and/or CAN-CISEC certification for Construction Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspections.5+ years of experience with experience with groundwater and surface water management, sustainability, noise, and vibration and permitting process.3+ years of construction rail-based experience in developing ESC plans, management, inspections, corrections, etc.)Experience in predicting the greenhouse gas emission implications of transportation alternatives; as well as experience in designing and evaluating appropriate air quality impact mitigation for transportation projects.Can utilize a scientifically approved dispersion models, such as CAL4HQC and CAL3HQCR, and vehicle emission models, such as MOVES;Experience in the identification and evaluation of Designated Substances and Hazardous Materials in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Regulation 278/05, Ontario Regulation 490/09, Regulation 860 made under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario), Regulation 347 made under the Environmental Protection Act (Ontario); and Regulation 362 Waste Management – PCB’s made under the Environmental Protection Act (Ontario);ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems experience is a plus.

Work Conditions

Field responsibilities throughout the year in varying weather and site conditions.Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and/or nights.
