The Details: Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round Pay: $54,000+ per year Schedule: May include weekends, evenings, and holidays. Responsibilities Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of cost-effective programs, safety and environmental management system (ISO 14001) policies, and procedures to maintain compliance. Manage Hazard assessment activity by conducting safety and sustainability inspections. Prepare documentation on inspection findings and coordinate with department heads on action plans. Manage for the Sustainability and Risk Departments the overhaul of the GCNPL SDS program and audit SDS books in each department annually. Review safety programs annually to make sure they are still meeting the needs of the operations and the law. Worker compensation functions includes: Within three calendar days, files workers’ compensation claims. Reviews and follows-up on all work-related and workers’ compensation incident / accident reports. Conducts or participates in RCA investigations including obtaining photographs, witness statements, etc., and providing those to the adjuster as indicated. Scans requisite documents to WC TPA (workers’ compensation third party administrator) and / or into the appropriate software system. Assists employees with completion of paperwork and claim-related questions (contact information for the adjuster, etc.). Assists with coordination of return-to-work assignments for injured employees. This may require follow-up with the respective health care provider, location department manager / supervisor, and / or the Human Resources Department. Escalates to Director, Risk Management if there is an anticipated potentially permanent work restriction and / or consideration for ADA accommodation. Advises employee’s department and HR when employee will miss time from work related to WC claim so that timely leave processing and appropriate leave of absence coding occurs (FMLA, personal leave, e.g.). Assist with oversight of recycling, composting and operation Shirley apples programs and other waste reduction programs to be developed; annual community e-waste collection events. Provide training resources and conduct in person training, to include: Incident and Accident Training Proper worker comp procedures Training Safety programs Training Emergency Spill Response Assist in the maintenance of all health, safety, and sustainability records per the law and contract. Assist in all regulatory (OSHA, ISO, EPA ANSI, DOT, NFPA, and/or NPS) and compliance inspections. Manage Safety incentive programs that reward behaviors and results. Lead or participate in the Live Life Safety Committee and Be a member of the Chemical Review Committee along with the Sustainability and Risk Director which will be responsible for approving all chemical products prior to purchase and inclusion in the GCNPL product list Promote a culture sustainability, safety, resilience, and preparedness. Performs other duties as assigned. This position must support and have a role under NIMS Emergency Protocols. Work schedules may vary depending on business needs and leadership coverage. Qualifications Must possess strong organizational skills, technical writing / editing, business communication (written and verbal), and computer skills. Must have experience with (or the ability to learn the basics in the short-term) use of Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Must be able to provide training information in written and verbal formats. Must adhere to established Xanterra and National Park Service policies and procedures as applicable to role and / or as assigned in the learning management system. Must have the ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks in a timely, professional and confidential manner. Knowledge of medical terminology desirable, including familiarity with FMLA and ADA. Claims administration processing experience is a plus. Arizona WC and bunkhouse rules knowledge is helpful. Knowledge of sustainability concepts and programs, knowledge of ISO 14001 EMS programs, solid/hazardous waste management, environmental science, Hazard Communication Standard (SDS) Must possess the ability to develop and maintain positive and productive relations when dealing with the Xanterra workforce, outside medical resources, and insurance adjusters. Required to maintain confidentiality of records, proprietary and sensitive information. Required to obtain a safety management certificate or/obtain one within six months of being hired. Require to obtain an OSHA 511 or/obtain one within a valid period of time. Requited to obtain FEMA certification IS100C and IS-700.b – within 2 days of hire. Must possess or obtain a valid Arizona Driver’s License and comply with the Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy. Must have knowledge of general accounting principles.
