SummaryThe Environmental Specialist Intern will assist in various environmental projects, including data collection, reporting, and regulatory compliance efforts. This role involves hands-on fieldwork and collaboration with team members to ensure successful project execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Conduct field sampling and data collection for environmental studies, including the South Florida schools water projectPerform drinking water sampling for Palm Beach County on Friday evenings and Saturday morningsParticipate in site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with environmental regulationsAssist in preparing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Proposals and ReportsDevelop environmental reports, assessments, and documentation based on field dataSupport the creation of permit applications and regulatory submissionsAnalyze environmental data and prepare findings for reviewResearch and stay updated on environmental regulations, sustainability practices, and industry standardsSupport the development and implementation of environmental management plansWork with team members on sustainability and environmental impact projectsPrepare presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholdersEnsure clear and effective communication with clients, supervisors, and regulatory bodiesPerform additional tasks as assigned to support project goals and team objectivesRequired Qualifications:Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related fieldAbility to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clientsComputer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reportsMathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsReasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram formPreferred Qualifications:HAZWOPER 40-Hour CertificationAsbestos Building Inspector LicenseThis is a part-time position, requiring working on Fridays and Saturday's morningThe position involves travel to project sitesOpportunities for professional development and mentorship are providedWho We Are:   UES provides essential engineering services for some of the most prominent and significant projects in the nation.
