Job Description
We are looking for an Environmental Scientist/Engineer to support the environmental components of a nuclear site refurbishment project. In this position, you will perform comprehensive environmental reviews of proposed site modifications and operational concerns, evaluate potential project impacts on the environment, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, a background in environmental science or engineering, and the ability to collaborate effectively on various environmental tasks.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare and review environmental permits for the Pickering refurbishment project, ensuring all provincial regulations are met.Coordinate with regulatory agencies to secure required permits and approvals.Develop and implement compliance programs to maintain high standards of environmental stewardship.Lead environmental assessment projects tied to the refurbishment, ensuring on-time delivery and compliance with relevant regulations.Define project scopes, budgets, and schedules; oversee their execution to achieve set objectives.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.Delegate responsibilities effectively and ensure efficient collaboration towards project goals.Essential SkillsEnvironmental engineeringVerbal CommunicationWritten Communication2-3 years of experience in environmental science or engineeringAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with environmental permitting in OntarioExperience with environmental workplans and review of designsExperience with environmental compliance, soil sampling, biology, ecology, remediation, geology, and soil analysisExperience in project management of environmental projectsEducation in Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or BiologyExperience with environmental reviews and assessments of engineering and construction projectsExperience in the environmental components of nuclear projects, particularly with the ECC ProcessExperience with soil remediation projects and hazardous waste managementExperience working with OPG or Bruce Power or any nuclear facility for environmental planning and assessmentPay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $65.00/hr.
