Overview Construction, & Remediation practice in West Allis, Wisconsin. This position would be part of an experienced team that works closely with Senior Project Managers and other technical leads providing technical support for soil, groundwater, and vapor investigations, due diligence, groundwater monitoring, remediation, engineering design, and regulatory compliance projects. We are looking for a motivated, reliable, and strong communicator with an eye for detail, a willingness to learn, and a desire to be part of a growing and high performing team. Flexibility to work a hybrid schedule is available. Responsibilities Support environmental assessment, investigation, remediation, and compliance related projects in the field and office. Work with Senior Project Managers to scope, cost, plan, and execute remediation projects. Prepare for work activities (e.g., plan field work, develop work plans, and coordinate with subcontractors and clients). Delegate work effectively to junior staff to meet project goals. Collaborate with TRC’s Geologists and Scientists to interpret geological, hydrogeological, and chemical data from contaminated sites to establish conceptual site models. Work with Senior Engineers to evaluate, design and implement soil, groundwater, and vapor remediation systems, including developing rationales and cost estimates. Perform a variety of field work including, but not limited to: On-site reconnaissance of project sites, including active rights-of-way and manufacturing facilities; Collection of soil, groundwater, and air samples; Remedial system operation, maintenance, and monitoring (OMM); and Construction oversight. Prepare and review technical documents, reports, designs, and construction documentation to ensure consistent delivery of materials. Ensure Quality Assurance/Quality Control of deliverables pertaining to projects and tasks self-managed, as well as projects and tasks managed by others, in accordance with TRC’s procedures. Maintain a billable utilization target and perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget for the scope of work and schedule with minimal supervision. Travel regionally and state-wide on short and long-term assignment. Travel can range from 25-50% of the position, depending on the time of year and type of project. Qualifications B.S. degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, or equivalent engineering discipline from an accredited university. EIT is required, PE license (Environmental or Civil) is a plus. 3-10 years of experience in engineering, environmental compliance, investigation, and/or remedial consulting, with progressive responsibilities in task management and design. Field experience with construction oversight, subcontractor management, multi-media sampling, and remedial systems (e.g., installation, commissioning, OMM, etc.). Experience with design support, cost estimating, procurement (e.g., contracting, bid evaluation/selection, requests for proposals, etc.). Knowledge of and experience with Wisconsin’s NR 700 environmental regulations. Excellent attitude and ability to work well within a team environment. Strong technical writing, communication (both written and oral), and computer skills. Must have a sense of urgency, be self-motivated, and ability to troubleshoot/problem-solve. Ability to prioritize tasks under multiple deadlines and changing priorities. Ability to manage time independently and to work effectively on a project team. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Conversance with Microsoft Project or equivalent project scheduling packages. Experience with AutoCAD is a plus. Valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols. Ability and willingness to perform and manage field work (i.e., construction oversight, system OMM, soil/groundwater/vapor sampling, etc.) for 25-50% of the position. Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the minimum requirements above, the qualifications below are highly desired but not required: S., M.Eng., or PhD. degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering. Professional Engineer or willingness to obtain licensure when eligible. 40-hour HAZWOPER health and safety training certificate (with an up to date 8-hour annual refresher course certification), or willingness to take training and enter the medical monitoring program. Knowledge of and experience with Federal environmental regulations (CERCLA, RCRA, etc.) Additional trainings and certifications related to the environmental field are desirable and should be noted (e.g., Certified Asbestos Inspector, etc.). Project management experience. Compensation: Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
