The Oasis operates the historic AAA Four Diamond Inn and Ranch, restaurants, gift shops, and the world's lowest elevation golf course. Job Summary: Entry-Level Cooks should anticipate working across all stations and using all kitchen equipment. Depending on the venue, you can anticipate working multiple stations that include batch production, high volume ala carte, prep, pantry, and banquets. Requirements: Prior kitchen experience as a Kitchen Utility, Cafeteria Worker, or any other experience in the culinary field The Details: Position Type: Full-time Year-round preferred, some Seasonal positions may be available. Start Dates: January 2025 Pay: $19.25 Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays) Why the Oasis at Death Valley? Responsibilities Assist in setting up and breaking down production areas in accordance with kitchen sanitation standards ensuring that all wok areas are clean and organized. Assist in the preparation and service of all food items for a la carte and/or buffet menus according to recipes and standards. Properly stores and handles all food products and promote safe and sanitary food handling techniques. Follow kitchen policies, procedures, and service standards. Ensure clean cooking area, utensils and equipment using established sanitation standards. Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage. Perform all duties toward the goal of providing excellent guest service in an efficient manner. Maintains open and positive communications with all co-workers daily. Qualifications Prior kitchen experience as a Kitchen Utility, Cafeteria Worker, or any other experience in the culinary field. Ability to understand food production procedures and read recipes. Ability to understand food sanitation standards and implement them in work. Able to understand basic English, and to follow simple verbal direction. Must be dependable and reliable to work when scheduled and to function productively. Able to take verbal directions, and then communicate them professionally to others. Physical Qualifications: Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
