Mead & Hunt has an exceptional opportunity for highly motivated construction inspectors for VDOT projects in the Lynchburg, VA region. Responsibilities include: Inspect Transportation Construction Projects: Ensure all work and materials meet project plans, proposals, and specifications Perform Key Measurements & Calculations: Verify weights, volumes, and measurements to ensure accuracy Prepare “As-Built” Documentation: Plot and run cross sections, and document project progress Conduct Materials Testing: Ensure materials meet quality standards throughout the project lifecycle Daily Documentation: Record all inspection activities and findings in detailed reports Work Outdoors: Enjoy the variety of working in different weather conditions and environments Physical Responsibilities: Be prepared for heavy lifting and manual tasks as part of the inspection process Travel Across the State: Visit construction sites across the state, ensuring every project is up to code Independent Work: Take ownership of your tasks and work with minimal supervision Flexible Hours & Travel: Expect extended hours and occasional overnight stays as part of the role A valid driver’s license is required. The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following: An Associate Degree (or higher) in Construction Management or related field is preferred Project Management experience on VDOT projects including rural and urban roadways, freeways and interchanges Client management experience Experience preparing project task scopes, budgets and schedules Why Mead & Hunt?
