Entry Level Concrete Lab Technician
Overview R&D Technician I Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 Annually A Day in the Life Do you enjoy hands-on work and learning how things function at a fundamental level? As an R&D Lab Technician I in our Concrete Laboratory, your day will begin with raw materials and end with meaningful test results that contribute to real-world innovation. You'll collaborate closely with experienced technicians and engineers to prepare, test, and evaluate various concrete and mortar mixes. From casting samples to running compressive strength tests, you’ll be a key part of a team working to improve the quality and performance of concrete materials. Responsibilities Weigh and mix trial batches of concrete and mortar based on provided formulations Cast and cure test specimens in accordance with ASTM/AASHTO standards Conduct plastic and hardened concrete testing, including slump, air content, compressive and flexural strength Prepare samples using grinding and measuring tools to meet testing tolerances Maintain lab equipment, curing tanks, drying rooms, and workstations Accurately record and document test results for review and analysis Support ongoing research projects and assist with new mix designs Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required 0–2 years of lab, field, or construction materials experience Interest in materials science, construction, or quality control Willingness to obtain certifications such as ACI or IDOT (support provided) Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the day Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a team-focused mindset Benefits Information: At Ozinga, we care about the well-being of our team members both in and out of the workplace.
