Enterprise Systems Architect

Overview
ERT is in search of an Enterprise Systems Architect to play a crucial role in designing and implementing the architecture for enterprise-level systems. You will help define system and application architecture, providing a strategic vision and problem-solving abilities to ensure the organization’s goals are met efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of AWS architecture, data workflows, scripting, and a variety of tools and platforms to manage large-scale data and operational environments. This position will be located in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the design and implementation of enterprise-level systems architecture. Define and document system and application architecture, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Support the discovery, acquisition, and normalization of bathymetry data from various sources. Compile the best available data to support multiple outputs in various formats and reference frames. Collaborate with the team members and stakeholders to: Build development environments that support standardized testing and code deployment. Provide web services to enhance the internal review and use of data. Separate review and processing environments to minimize performance impacts. Expand storage capabilities to support ongoing data compilation and national coverage by 2026. Support the operations team in reviewing and editing data within GIS systems (QGIS, CARIS) and ensure data processing workflows are efficient. Assist in the development of CI/CD environments to facilitate ongoing improvements and support developer activities.

Required Skills
A minimum of 4 years' relevant technical architecture experience to include:

Strong expertise in AWS architecture, including the ability to design wire diagrams and workflows. Proficiency in scripting and handling large-scale data (terabytes). Experience in presenting data through infographics and other visual tools. Familiarity with Microsoft OS, RedHat Linux, and open-source tools. Knowledge of GIS systems like Caris and ESRI, as well as containerization tools such as Docker. Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices in networking and software development. Ability to work under general supervision and rely on limited experience and judgment to accomplish goals.

Desired

Experience with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
Prior experience in developing and deploying web services to enhance operational efficiency.
Familiarity with data storage expansion and management to support large-scale projects.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. 

Location
This position is located on-site in Silver Spring, MD with the option for regular telework.
