BASIC FUNCTION:
As part of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team, support all aspects of the university-wide risk management program. Continuously interact with various departments and functions to facilitate the identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of risks that could negatively impact the University’s mission and strategy. Be responsible for collaborating with all levels of the University to conduct comprehensive risk and control assessments, analyze data trends, and develop strategies to enhance the risk management framework. Contribute to the creation and implementation of key risk indicators and monitoring of risk mitigation plans, ensuring alignment with institutional strategy and regulatory compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build and foster constructive relationships university-wide, promoting partnership and collaboration, while educating employees on risk management best practices.
Assist university departments and functions to identify, quantify, and track risks.
Monitor and analyze internal and external trends, indicators, and factors that impact risk.
Collaborate with risk managers on reporting and evaluation techniques to support the ongoing collection and interpretation of risk management data.
Advise in development of strategies to minimize potential risks and the creation of risk mitigation and treatment plans and risk action reports.
Continuously assess and improve existing risk management processes, tools, and infrastructure through ongoing evaluation and feedback.
Employ risk management tools/software to effectively and efficiently collect data, perform analysis, and monitor risks.
Compile reports, summaries, and presentations to communicate findings to key stakeholders.
Assist in the management of insurance claims and with insurance policy renewals, including the completion of insurance application documents and obtain necessary information from campus partners.
Support compliance operations and monitor points of control.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position may be required to respond to events outside of normal working hours.
Perform other duties as required.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers, printer, word processing, database management, and spreadsheet software. Risk management frameworks. Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI. GRC Platform.
Required Qualifications REQUIRED:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field from an accredited institution.
2. Minimum three years of experience in risk analysis or risk management in a complex organization.
3. Demonstrated experience in risk and control identification, data analysis and trending, and plan monitoring.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of risk management frameworks (such as NIST, COSO, or ISO 27000).
5. Demonstrated experience in building partnerships and educating employees on risk management practices.
6. Demonstrated decision-making and analytical skills.
7. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and GRC platform.
8. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
9. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
10. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
Preferred Qualifications PREFERRED:
1. Demonstrated knowledge of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) principles.
2. Professional certification such as ARM, CRM, RMP.
3. Demonstrated experience in statistical analysis and data interpretation.
4. Demonstrated experience working in higher education.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of information security and privacy fundamentals.
