Position Responsibilities:

Leverage expertise in technical and business strategy to collaborate with Technology domain leadership to support strategic decision making.Identify, analyze, review, and evaluate ideas and opportunities to support the product roadmap with technologies for the targeted domainParticipate in the EA Governance processes including preparation for, and delivery of, architecture reviews, artifact oversight reviews, and process compliance. Create, regularly update, and continuously leverage EA artifacts such as roadmaps, value chains, and tech health reporting.Provide thought leadership and build strong stakeholder partnerships to articulate current state, target state, and domain roadmapsProvide architectural oversight within the domain / function across architecture areas – application, data, cloud and infrastructure, cybersecurity, and integrationResearch, understand and apply existing, new, and emerging technologies and trends to determine their potential impact on technology domains.Conduct analysis and identify opportunities and approaches for solving domain problems that may include new products, new platforms, or system enhancementsParticipate in the evaluation and selection of new enterprise software products and platforms.Provide advisory services to domain leadership to improve technology planning, delivery, operational efficiency, cost management, and app rationalization.Create and maintain reference materials for use by the technical delivery team to ensure consistent and compliant solutions for enterprise level architecture patterns.Participate in the planning and design of strategic initiatives that require architecture guidance.Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.Understand and adhere to M&T’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the company’s risk appetite; identify risk-related issues needing escalationAdditional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 year's higher education and/or relevant work experience7 or more years of experience in developing and integrating applications using relevant software architecture principles and patternsKnowledge of core banking platforms, branch/teller platforms, consumer lending (personal, mortgage, auto), customer management systems, credit/debit card, bill pay, and web/mobile channelsWorking knowledge of architecture diagramming practices, architectural frameworks, and/or enterprise architecture toolsStrong strategic planning capabilities with a consulting mindset and proven architecture modelling skillsFamiliarity across all architecture domains including business, application, data/information, cloud/infrastructure, integration, and cybersecurity architectureExperience in software engineering, software delivery and/or solution architectureStrong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skillsExcellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills including presenting to executives and senior leadership

Education and Experience Preferred:

Graduate degree in business or technical disciplineExperience working in the consumer/retail domain within the financial services industry including at least two technical IT-related rolesKnowledge of consumer banking marketing practices, small business & business banking, customer master and segmentation, and propensity analyticsGood understanding of strategic and new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologiesExperience working in diversified technology environments (mainframe/distributed, cloud/on-premise/colo, SaaS, etc.)Experience working in an Agile environment (Agile Scrum / Scaled Agile)Certification in enterprise architecture frameworks

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $130,795.52 - $217,992.53 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above corresponds to our national pay range for this role. The specific pay range applicable to you may vary based on your location.
