ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MATERIALS)
Summary You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MATERIALS) in the Scientific Services Branch (TRF-412), Engineering and Scientific Services Division (TRF-410), TRIDENT Refit Facility (TRIREFFAC-KB), Kings Bay, Georgia of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY. Responsibilities You will be responsible for providing technical guidance and leadership to team members. You will be responsible for maintaining training of team members and new employees and promote and provide team building techniques used to accomplish the tasks and projects of code. You will be responsible for preparing technical reports of inspection results and repairs accomplished. You will be responsible for determining diagnostic and operability tests in assigned functional areas required. You will be responsible for accomplishing assignments by deciding on the methods, procedures, and tests to be used. You will be responsible for applying independent judgement in the solution of problems and in deciding what technical and policy problems should be brought to the attention of the supervisor. You will be responsible for coordinating work associated with assignments and interpreting and analyzing highly complex data. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience interpreting and applying specifications and requirements pertaining to engineering materials testing and evaluation related to equipment and instrumentation. Experience implementing familiarity with metallurgy, welding, and physical science concepts, principles, and practices. Experience utilizing the principles, theories, chemical and physical properties of organic and inorganic materials, methods, and operations of testing and evaluation of equipment and instrumentation such as: scanning electron microscopes, x-ray spectrometers, optical emission spectrometer, tensile testing machines, and hardness testers, associated data processors, and micro-computers. Experience applying material properties, theories, practices, and established methodologies sufficient to perform the full range of duties involved in the analysis, identification, and testing of materials and situations that require method medication and development. Experience determining the specific data needed and the best approach to take to obtain that data and developing, adapting, and modifying the test, and evaluating and interpreting the results.
