Engineering Technician
**Job Description:** **_Brooks Instrument_** is an industry leader in flow measurement and flow control products for critical applications, and a division of ITW (A Fortune 200 Company) is seeking candidates for an **Engineering Technician.** This position will be based out of our headquarters facility in Hatfield, PA (Suburban Philadelphia). In addition to our Pennsylvania operations, Brooks maintains manufacturing locations in, Hungary, and Korea. The Company also maintains sales offices throughout the world. Our products are used in laboratory and process applications in end markets such as: life sciences, chemicals, semiconductor, analytical instruments, nuclear, and solar cells. **Basic Function** Work within the CBI (Customer Back Innovation) Engineering team to fabricate electro-mechanical equipment for test and calibration. Support manufacturing technical issues as deemed necessary by the group supervisor. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** + Assemble, test, and validate prototypes and pilot builds. + Assist the Engineering team to “stress test” prototypes, collect device data, and analyze performance. + Decipher electronic schematics, read and interpret mechanical drawings, and flow (P&ID) diagrams. + Design, fabricate, and document test fixtures. + Develop manufacturing work instructions and train operators. + Use 3D printer for making prototypes and coordinate with in-house machine shop for fabrication of metal prototypes. + Inspect fabricated parts using hand inspection tools, optical comparators, CMM, digital microscope. + Download/update firmware on devices, use internal tools toconfigure mass flow controllers. . + Work on assignments that may be quite broad in nature, requiring substantial originality and ingenuity. + Participate in Company continuous improvement initiatives. + Regular attendance. + Other duties as assigned. Qualifications **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** + CAD experience using SolidWorks, LabVIEW experience is not required but a plus. + Prototyping and assembly of electro-mechanical products. + Experience in the troubleshooting of electro-mechanical assemblies using test and measurement tools like Power Supplies, Digital Multimeters, and Oscilloscopes. + Excellent mechanical aptitude with the skills to set up and utilize various mechanical and electronic laboratory equipment. + Basic understanding of flow, pressure, and electrical circuits. + Ability to solder surface mount components is not required but a plus. + Ability to fabricate cable assemblies using given drawings. + Assembly of piping systems and instrumentation/test system wiring. + Computer skills in networking, peripherals, and data acquisition systems. + Experience in using software tools such as MS Office for writing reports, performing data analysis and for developing presentations for internal use. + Ability to get along with others in a team environment and to follow all safety procedures. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. **Education and Experience** + Technical Associate’s degree (Mechanical/Electrical) holders with 3-5 years’ experience + New graduates with a BS in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering with relevant coursework may be considered.
