Summary Reclamation is seeking a technician looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise working with AutoCad software. Make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment. Duty Location: Lower Colorado Basin Region, Lower Colorado Dams Office, Parker Dam Field Division located at the Parker Dam. If selected, you will report to the Parker Dam located outside of Lake Havasu City, AZ. Responsibilities The Engineering Technician serves as the primary source for computer-aided design (CAD) for the Lower Colorado Dams Office, Parker Dam Division, and is responsible for reviewing designs for compliance with current industry practices and ensures designs fit field conditions. Develops, prepares, and/or reviews plans, specifications, and cost estimates for construction and/or proposed/ongoing projects. Reviews designs for compliance with current industry practices and ensures designs fit field conditions; suggests modifications when issues are identified. Utilizes automated engineering drafting and design systems and applications. Uses a variety of contracting processes to provide engineering oversight for construction, architecture, or engineering contracts. Validates data used for and loaded into electronic/automated design and records management applications. Provides technical oversight in ensuring data integrity. To qualify at the GS-11: your resume must reflect one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS-10 level in federal service performing ALL of the following: 1) Utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D or equivalent software to develop engineering drawings 2) Reviewing statements of work, construction schedules, and contractor payment requests; 3) Conducting pre-award activities to ensure contractor work meets requirements and standards; AND 4) preparing change orders, modifications, or technical review of claims, and preparing cost estimates. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time in grade and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 01/17/2025. Time in Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time in grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade with few exceptions as outlined in 5 CRF 300.603(b) Education This position does not allow substituting education for experience. Additional Information You may be required to serve an initial probationary period. Reclamation has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and you may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval. Reclamation telework policy requires at least 40 hours per 80 hour payperiod of work in office. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) expenses are NOT authorized.
