The primary purpose of this position, ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN, GS-0802-11 is to be responsible for identifying and/or obtaining the facilities and equipment needed to support the production shops, to repair, overhaul, manufacture, and modify products, in worldwide support of major weapon systems. Responsibilities 1. Accomplish initial planning functions to include facilities and equipment planning. 2. Review and evaluate suggestions involving equipment. 3. Ensure follow up is in place for facilities development. 4. Develop/revise standards for Equipment to track and maintain life cycle usefulness. 5. On new and proposed weapon system repair assignment, establish and identifies the common, Air Ground Equipment (AGE) and maintenance Ground Equipment (MGE) requirements. 6. Provide technical guidance and coordination on unusual technical problems (for equipment) encountered during the production cycle. 7. Value Engineering Techniques will be used to: Examine high volume/high value components for design changes, depot repair procedures, substitution of equipment, etc.; to investigate processes and repair procedures for improvement; to design adequate tooling for depot operations not covered by technical data and provides adequate fixtures and equipment for direct production support. 8. Support the Production Supervisors in production meetings and assist in identifying significant issues. 9. Comply with and assist in implementing Command standard business practices, policies & procedures. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-0802, Engineering Technical Series. GS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks),or will have one year within 120 days of closing of this announcement, of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-09), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc) and is described in detail in my resume. Specialized experience is described as technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, applicants within 120-days of completion of TIG requirements are encouraged to apply. Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of production material requirements, work sequences, machinery, and manpower requirements for industrial operations. Knowledge of a variety of engineering technician processes and techniques to include work measurements, methods, improvement, engineered time standards, layout designs and cost analysis. Knowledge of mechanics, construction, maintenance, and repair facility works processes and methods. Knowledge of safety and occupational health requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations or technical orders. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
