SCOPE: The Engineering Manager is an integral part of the Management Team that generates the short and long-term strategies that formulate the company’s direction and policies. This position requires technical and business decision making which affects the company’s day-to-day operations and drives the innovation program to make Amarillo Gear Service an industry leader in Aftermarket gearbox services.EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/ SKILLS - EXERIENCE: BS in Engineering, 5-years of design, 3 years of gearbox and component failure analysis, and engineering management. Ability to handle department priorities, scheduling, and technical leadership. Manage gearbox failure analysis process, reverse engineering or redesign as required to restore equipment to original condition or facilitate performance upgrades, on schedule, with accuracy and documentation. Manage personnel and overall operations of the department including relations with other departments and customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prioritizing and scheduling of Engineering resources to match company objectives.Manage projects through engineering design, reverse engineering or failure analysis and be responsible for releasing the products to the shop and eventually the customer.Coordinate design/ reverse engineering/analysis inputs and outputs with all stakeholders for all projects and/or products.Coordinate activities with external design entities to support service requirements for engineers on product design and release.Qualify 3rd party machining and gear manufacturing resources and act a primary technical contact and source of information for the company.Approve final design and production releases.Work with Shop Manager and local management to develop and keep current training materials required to support onboarding of new staff and continuous improvement of product offerings.Hiring, firing, reviewing, and training of Engineering Personnel.Establish, maintain, and enforce Engineering Department operating policies and standards regarding design, documentation, and production releases including standards for accuracy and thoroughness.Support the sales department by answering customer’s technical questions and prepare quotes on projects with engineering specifications utilizing the engineering department’s resources.Responsible for warranty claims and ensuring proper coordination for trouble shooting field and production problems.Complete responsibility for the accuracy, completeness, and safe keeping of all Engineering documentation and related databases (Bills of Material, Solid Models, Detail Drawings Specifications Sheets, Calculations, and Layouts).Ensure proper participation with quality, Purchasing, and Production to ensure the product is delivered on time and as required.Participate in annual budget preparation by justifying and quantifying resource needs.Create AFE for approval of capital expenditures related to design projects.Following receipt of a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to complete additional job-related screening processes as permitted or required by applicable law.
