Responsible for managing personnel, employee’s deliverables, and execution of department goals. Manages and directs the daily work of their team to ensure on-time quality of customer requirements and achievement of business goals. May be a technical resource for others. + General understanding of business acumen. + May have budget responsibilities. + Has full authority for personnel actions and will need extensive knowledge of department processes. + Sets dept goals and objectives, ensures employees understand their role and monitor results/effectiveness, expense and budgets. + Establishes and monitors procedures for processing development work in support of strategic initiatives. Technical Support: + Provide technical support to customers and colleagues, answering inquiries and troubleshooting issues + Stay up to date with industry developments and trends to provide expert technical advice + Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians Safety and Environmental Compliance: + Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures in the design and operation of chemical processes + Develop and implement plans to minimize the environmental impact of chemical processes + Participate in audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Master's degree is preferred. + Knowledge and experience with developing teams and a basic understanding of financial principles. **Travel Requirements:** + Twenty to thirty percent travel can be expected.
