We are calling upon all Engineer Managers, or managers to be to submit their CVs if they meet the following requirements:

-Tertiary qualification (B-Tech or BSc) in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or the equivalent
– Mechanical / Electrical Engineer’s Certificate of Competency in terms of regulation 2.13.1 of the MHSA
– A minimum of five years’ experience in a similar position at a mine, preferably opencast with experience in
associated mining equipment
– Knowledge and experience of the NOSA Integrated Five Star System as it applies to open cast mines, and the MHSA requirements relating to health, safety, and environment
– Sound knowledge of predictive and planned maintenance systems;
– A sound knowledge of crushing, screening, and conveying equipment, with knowledge of fine powder milling
and packaging
– Knowledge in and experience of generally accepted engineering practices and standards.

What the job entails:

-Plan, organize, lead, and control Engineering function
– Setting out and monitoring subordinate objectives
– Responsible for the safe installation and the proper operation, running, and maintenance of all machinery
– Responsible for the safe erection and proper maintenance of all buildings, structures and tanks
– Take reasonable measures to ensure that all safety appliances, mechanisms and guards are maintained in
good condition; the provisions of the regulations relating to machinery are fully complied with; and the
work of any apparatus or machine, the use of which may constitute a danger to any person, is stopped
– Ensure a maintenance system, including condition monitoring, for all mining equipment and fixed plant,
exists and is applied and managed effectively
– Ensure that engineering standards, specifications and practices are of an acceptable standard and applied
throughout all departments
– Analyze and advise on the content and frequency of maintenance schedules
– Analyze and advise on the results from oil analysis, vibration monitoring and infrared thermographic
reports with conclusive action plans
– Analyze and advise on comments returned to the Planning Office via maintenance schedules. Works orders
and breakdown reports
– Analyze and advise on breakdown diagnostics and action plans to rectify the situations
– Remain informed on the development of mining equipment and associated fixed plant
– Remain informed on the development of maintenance and condition monitoring technology and
techniques
