With direct supervision, the Engineer Intern is responsible for engineering work assignments on a part-time basis while enrolled in a university degree program. Assignments are intended to provide entry-level experience and training related to operational functions, interaction with customers, and exposure to products, all within the Parker business structure. • Assist with special projects and/or design work to support department objectives • Assemble and test prototypes with a preliminary analysis of test results • Consistently apply established engineering practices, standards, and documentation methods • Compile cost estimates of design alternatives • Generate and maintain documentation for product engineering processes • Utilize drafting experience to support new product release, product improvements and product line extensions • Collaborate with other departments for component sourcing and engineering qualification • Assist with troubleshooting of engineering lab test equipment and test programs • Design and specify engineering lab test equipment and coordinate internally or externally to implement test lab upgrades • Use procurement and sample request processes to meet project requirements The job description is intended to describe the general nature of this position and is not an all inclusive list of duties performed by employees assigned to this position. The Company reserves the right to modify the work assignments and/or to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions. • Full time sophomore, junior or senior enrollment status in an accredited university’s engineering program (mechanical / manufacturing / manufacturing engineering technology). • Available to work 20 hours per week during school year and 40 hours per week during the summer • Good spatial visualization • Attention to exacting detail • Ability to apply basic scientific knowledge • Critical thinking • Exposure to manufacturing environment a plus • Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the job typically acquired through one or more years of related experience Pay rate is determined by enrollment status, but starts at $18.00 per hour.
