Role Summary Internship Term: Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. To be eligible, you must be an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited program during the internship term with an expected graduation date between December 2025 through June 2027. In this role, you will leverage your research experience in the area of electric power conversion to apply first engineering principal and methodology to innovate and enhance the robustness of our Rivian electric propulsion drive performance for the R2 platform. Responsibilities Literature research of current state-of-the-art technology in the area of electric power conversion for EV application Support development of SIL (simulation-in-the-loop) and HIL (hardware-in-the-loop) model capability for our R2 propulsion drive system Support software development and controls testing with R2 propulsion drive system Plan and perform algorithm and calibration development and testing in HIL, high-voltage dynamometer, and vehicle test environment Work as part of a fast-paced, diverse team of professionals supporting component development and subsystem and vehicle integration Support controls design review with cross-functional team, such as vehicle controls, powertrain, Battery Management System, etc Participate in offsite vehicle testing with our Test & Development team Qualifications Must be currently pursuing a bachelors, masters, or PhD degree at an accredited university (Masters+ preferred) Actively pursuing a degree or one closely related in Electrical or Computer Engineering Knowledge of theory and principle of three-phase AC electric motor and inverter topologies Experience in developing digital control algorithms for AC electric motor drive system Fluency in Model-based design using Matlab/Simulink, modeling and simulation of electric drives Fluency in C and C++ programming languages Excellent interpersonal skills in a fast-paced team Good analytical and problem-solving skills Able to work with minimum supervision and full autonomy Hands-on experience working in high voltage high power laboratory test environment #LI-HH2 Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
