For more information, visit www.progressrail.com and follow @Progress_Rail on Twitter and YouTube. **Education / Training:**  Enrolled in mechanical engineering undergraduate or graduate program with good academic standing. **Job Title:** Engineering Intern - Engine Systems **City:** La Grange **Key Job Elements:** • Provides process & measurement support for vehicle & engine testing; • Administer prototype engine testing and validation of engine components; • Perform engine troubleshooting, data collection and failure analysis; • Obtain knowledge of facility and its operations; • Knowledge of digital data acquisition and reduction systems; • Knowledgeable of basic test instrumentation (multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, calibrators and power supplies); • Complete assignments within a department or activity which utilize the employee’s academic discipline; • Travel as required. **Qualifications and Experience:** Required: • Fundamental mechanical or electrical engineering courses. • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. • Use of analytical abilities. • Minimal travel may be necessary. Preferred: • Familiarity with Finite elements analyses; • Familiarity with CAD design software, particularly Unigraphics; • Familiarity with Thermodynamics fundamentals. Essential and Physical Activities Functions: • Strength – This is a traditional office setting and requires the occasional lifting of weight of 50lbs. Lifting boxes of paper; • Motion – This is a traditional office setting and requires the use of a computer, keyboard and other equipment. Employee will be sitting the majority of the day with occasional walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling and driving; • Vision/Hearing Requirements – Must be able to communicate with customers and coworkers and utilize all office equipment; • Work Environment – Work is in office sitting and not exposed to extremes of heat and cold. The position may require some work on the manufacturing floor that could expose candidate to all environmental aspects; • Emotional Demands – Employee is expected to quickly pick up tasks in a fast-paced office environment and maybe required to give presentation, speak in public and work in teams; • Safety – This is not a safety sensitive position.
