Hexcel is currently seeking a Engineering Intern for our Amesbury, MA location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following project obligations:

Assisting our Quality Engineer who is responsible for the setup, configuration, qualification and programming of our new OGP SmartScope 1500 system. This system utilizes a laser, camera and touch probe all in one system. Specific summer project deliverables include:

ensure ballooned drawings and DISCUS FAI forms are in place and up-to-date for three designated (pre-selected) ARC part numbers,facilitate the completion of a formal measurement systems analysis (“Gauge R&R”) on the three designated ARC part numbers establishing baseline precision-to-tolerance ratios,aid in the design, build and qualification of appropriate fixturing to hold the three designated ARC part numbers in appropriate orientations needed to capture required dimensional measurements,aid in the system programming needed for each of three designated parts to be measured on the new system,document / update associated Quality Plans for each of the three designated parts,establish correlations between the existing metrology methods and the new OGP SmartScope 1500 system for each of the dimensions measured on each of the three designated part numbers and,draft a summary report for each of the three designated part numbers which includes the data / information for each of the deliverables listed above to present to the customers for approval.

Qualifications:

Able to maintain situational awareness and work safely in a manufacturing environment.Ability to read and interpret engineered part drawings including datums and tolerances.Basic understanding of mechanical measurement techniques such as measuring lengths, widths, heights, depths, diameters and radii.Proficient in using the Microsoft Office tools including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.Organized and detail oriented to ensure accuracy and completeness of work.Experience working with CAD (computer aided design) software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ProE, etc.) considered a “plus”.
