Engineering Intern

These systems are located at the Kennedy Space Center – at locations throughout the site, including at/around space flight hardware processing facilities, launch pad support buildings and facilities, engineering and administrative support buildings and other types of industrial and related support facilities. **Job Duties and Essential Responsibilities** Perform a range of system engineering development, analysis, or review tasks under supervision and follows standard practices in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained. Assist with onsite technical guidance as needed for new or existing asset installation and/or modifications that require System Engineer expertise. Support the modifications and additions of new asset information in Maximo database for assets per MAR (Maintenance Action Request) process. Support the development and maintenance of job plans and preventative maintenance schedules for assigned assets in accordance with launch and processing operations, NASA-STD-5008B and industry standard requirements. Conduct site visits to investigate system problems, propose solutions and provide recommendations to restore systems. Propose and develop improvement plans to address systemic problems and improve overall performance of the assets (improvements and/or modifications) Support shop technicians in troubleshooting issues related to assigned assets as needed. Support the preparation of Technical Anomaly reports and presentations documenting problems, concerns, and resolutions for assigned assets to the Engineering Review Board. Assist in performing readiness assessments of assigned equipment and systems. Support development of technical proposals, statements of work and/or provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work. Aid in the development of task order requirements to NASA to complete Operations & Maintenance Documentation (OMD) updates per specific, contracted timeframes. OMD updates could be on drawings or job plans for assigned assets. Coordinate and communicate effectively with CAD drafters, Design Engineers, or shop personnel by written or verbal means. **Education and Experience Requirements** Current student pursuing a degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Mathematics/Physics or related scientific field with 60+ credits with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Good communications and analytical skills. Knowledgeable of Excel, PowerPoint and Word Applications. Other Requirements: **Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands** : This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards; occasional lifting to 20 pounds; constant sitting with use of computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; constant mental alertness; must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines.
