About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Tooele Army Depot, Tooele, UT. This position serves as a Engineering Equipment Operator Leader, as a working leader of the work center located at TEAD (Tooele Army Depot) South Demo Range. Responsibilities Serve as a working leader of the work center located at Tooele Army Depot (TEAD) South Demo Range. Pass on to other workers, instructions received from supervisor, and starts work by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individuals. Ensure plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available and stock is obtained from supply locations. Check work in progress and, when completed, for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. Operate a variety of heavy equipment such as front-end loader, back-hoe, grader, excavator, and bulldozers Work to rough specifications on rugged terrain and to fine specifications on flat or rolling terrain such as preparing roads. Operate close to buildings, drop-offs, rock, and power poles. Assist in forest, brush, and grass fire suppression, including smoke-chasing, sizing up conditions, determining need for reinforcement, construction of control lines and fire breaks, felling large trees and snags, mop-up, and follow-up. Operate a variety of dump trucks, tractor/trailers and equipment with special attachments. Drive over improved and unimproved roads located throughout the TEAD South Demo Range. Operate a road grader for repair of various roads. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Engineering Equipment Operator Leader without more than normal supervision. Ability to lead others when situations are of a common nature. I can pass on instruction and assisting lower graded equipment operators or trainees; Provide information to the supervisor on status and progress of work; Follow established procedures, policies, and other directives; Operate a variety of heavy equipment such as front end loader, graders, backhoes, excavators, and bulldozers. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Reliability and Dependability as a Engineering Equipment Operator Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Work involves constant bending, reaching, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet and legs to handle and adjust different sets of controls. Considerable strain is caused by constant vibration, jerking and jolting from operations over rough surfaces. Frequently works in awkward or strained positions. Work is sometimes performed under adverse operating conditions. Some work requires long periods of standing and walking. Operation of equipment requires good hand and eye coordination and depth perception. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing 50 pounds and occasionally heavier. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in all types of weather with extremes from zero to 110 degrees, and periodically in open driver's seat or on platforms. Works on all types of terrain. Operates all types of heavy engineering equipment with complicated controls. Exposed to injury from overturning of equipment, working around power lines. Exposed to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, fumes, and hazardous or flammable materials. There is a possibility of cuts, scrapes, burns, bruises, and strains. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a(n) Logistics Career Field position.
