Engineering Assistant/Assistant Project Manager

Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Assist Project Managers in all aspects of a materials projects to ensure that it is safely completed on time and within scope and budget. Under supervision of a Project Manager, you will be responsible for completing the project as per its contracted scope; monitor progress and performance against the project plan. Troubleshoot and recommend or resolve operational problems and minimize delays. May be responsible for resource management, project scheduling, budgets and forecasts, and working with external vendors, subcontractors or contractors. Conducts meetings and prepares reports to communicate the status of the project to project team and client. Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones. May have responsibilities to communicate with the client and deliver work products to satisfaction of client. Coordinates effort with APR to make sure that APR has opportunity to engage throughout the project, particularly at critical junctures. Is involved with approving invoices, preparing change orders, and collections.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:Certifications for ACI Field Grade 1 and WAQTC.Quality report preparation – very few/no grammar, spelling or punctuation errors, accurate locations, knowledge of construction terminology.Report turnaround – getting reports submitted the same day (no late reports).Communication – communication with contractor prior to and when on site, informing contractor and PM immediately of deviations, communication with dispatching.Knowledge of services – minimum of experience with concrete, soils, asphalt, reinforcing steel, post-installed anchors, and masonry.Vehicle – perform monthly inspections, keep up with vehicle maintenance, keep vehicle clean, constant Geotab score above 90 and less than 5 backups as first movement.Equipment – keeping equipment clean, well maintained, and calibrated.Have a positive, willing to help attitude.Have a “take ownership” attitude with projects.Willing to come in early or leave late when necessary to get work done.Have your timesheet filled out daily.Working towards obtaining the Data-Only Reviewer Status.Working towards obtaining ICC certification.Reviewing of field reports.Registering proposals.Preparing proposals.Registering projects.Helping with scheduling and dispatching.Multi-tasking and being willing to cover field work as necessary depending on the schedule.Early Project Manager – being available in the early morning to help with scheduling when needed (technicians calling in sick).Saturday Project Manager – 7:00 to 11:00, rotating schedule with other PM’s to be available to help technicians with dispatching and checking the dispatch requests.Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management. Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Environmental Science or related field and 2 years’ experience in engineering/scientific support role. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 6 years’ related experience.Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
