Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance, Cleanroom: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc... allowed, Fluctuating Temps hot/cold, Loud Noises (Equipment/Machinery), Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.), Standing for full shift, Strong Odors (chemical, lubricants, biological products etc.), Will work with hazardous/toxic materials

Job Description

Combining hardware and software expertise in electron, ion, and light microscopy with deep application knowledge in the materials science, life sciences, electronics, and natural resources markets, the worldwide Electron Microscopy employees are dedicated to customers' pursuit of discovery and resolution to global challenges.

Day to day activities include:

Conduct on-site installation of sophisticated equipment and follow testing procedures to ensure accurate working orderConduct on-site scheduled planned maintenance visitsProvide diagnosis and repair support for customers and other field personnelCultivate and develop positive working relationships with customers, system users, and company personnelTravel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support other field service personnelComplete and submit field service reportsProvide training to customers and users on system maintenanceProvide feedback to product quality teamsProvide appropriate input in writing updating and correcting various Thermo Fisher system documentationProvide guidance for various reports including identifying and isolating outstanding problems with the systemAct as a subject expert and resource for training

Education

Minimum education requirement is bachelor's degree or 7+ years equivalent education and experience in electronic systems

Experience

Minimum experience is 5+ years of hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating sophisticated analysis tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems.A detailed understanding and extensive experience diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems.

Ability to deal effectively with customersExcellent interpersonal communication skills; must have a professional working proficiency in EnglishConsistent record of fixing sophisticated systems and subsystems down to the component levelLiterate in MS DOS and Windows software environmentsAble to read and interpret schematicsFamiliar with UHV phenomenon and technologyMust have ability to acquire a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as requiredMust possess a valid driver’s licensePhysical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
