Overview of the role 

The Engineer II will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of hotel facilities, ensuring the highest standards of safety, functionality, and guest satisfaction. This role will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and address repair needs for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and other mechanical systems. The Engineer II works independently on routine projects and collaborates with the Engineering Team on larger or more complex tasks.

What you have 

A high school diploma or equivalent and technical or trade school certification in building maintenance or related fields is a plus.Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in general maintenance or engineering in a hospitality or similar environment.Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of equipment.Knowledge of fire alarms, emergency power, and energy management systems.Excellent communication skills, working well with other departments and handling guest interactions professionally.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

What you’ll do 

Guest Room & Public Area Maintenance

Perform repairs such as plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing hardware, plumbing, and electrical equipment, including lamps, air conditioners, and cosmetic items.Replace electrical switches and outlets and program TVs as needed.Address repairs and adjustments to hardware, plumbing, electrical, HVAC equipment, and cosmetic items in public spaces.

Fire Alarm/Life Safety Systems

Monitor fire alarm and life safety systems, ensuring proper functionality during emergencies.Maintain a working knowledge of fire sprinkler and emergency power systems to respond efficiently to emergencies.Monitor energy and utility usage throughout the hotel, looking for opportunities to reduce consumption.Report any potential energy-saving strategies to the Engineering Management team.

Safety Prevention & Emergency Response

Be available for emergencies to protect guests, associates, and the building.Respond quickly and responsibly to restore building operations and report any emergencies to Engineering Management.Follow departmental Job Safety Analysis guidelines, striving for a safe and accident-free workplace.Identify and address any conditions that may pose a danger to associates or guests and take immediate action to resolve them.

Departmental Responsibilities

Clean and organize all engineering areas as directed by management.Maintain a neat and efficient work area, ensuring all tasks are completed professionally and promptly.Log, track, and interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring devices.Maintain a thorough record of daily activities and ensure clear communication between shifts.Clean, lubricate, protect, and maintain all tools and equipment.Ensure that all tools are properly stored after use and that personal tool pouches are secured.Follow up on any items on backorder and keep supervisors informed of assignment progress.

Training & Development

Provide technical advice and training to other engineers as needed.Strive to become an independent mechanic capable of analyzing and solving problems efficiently while delivering high-quality work.
