Job Description

As an Engineer II, Manufacturing Engineering at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. in Madison, you'll have the chance to create a meaningful impact on a global scale. In this role, you will oversee manufacturing processes to ensure efficient sub-assembly, instrument assembly, and test processes. You will work closely with the manufacturing team to provide them with everything they need to produce quality products, on time, and at the lowest possible cost. You will also drive and participate in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.

Responsibilities:

Develop manufacturing assembly and test work instructions, guides, and proceduresRepresent manufacturing on NPI teams to develop efficient designs using DFM and serviceabilityPromote the utilization of Lean methodologies and tools such as Kaizen, Kanban, 5S, poke-yoke, and value stream mappingDrive process improvements in operations to reduce scrap and reworkEnsure adequate documentation for tooling, fixtures, and equipmentEngage in supplier assessment, corrective actions, and first article approval processesQuickly disposition and root cause component and assembly failuresImplement engineering change ordersOther duties as assigned

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Material Science, or Electrical Engineering preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.HS Diploma/GED required2-5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing operations preferredExperience with good engineering practicesStrong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skillsData analysis experienceERP experience, SAP preferredCAD software experienceProven track record to fix and solve mechanical issues.Experience in process improvement and Lean methodologiesProject management experience
