Location Description Post Consumer Brands corporate headquarters in Lakeville, Minn. is about 20 miles south of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Lakeville has all the benefits of smaller town living with access to everything a large metropolitan area has to offer. Responsibilities This role will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and implementing process technologies and equipment for our innovation roadmap as well as the improvement of existing process, value engineering, design to value, and technology development to enable new product development. The R&D Engineer I will drive process development for innovation from concept through commercialization, by participating on cross-functional teams resulting in meeting company goals for new pet food or snacks / innovation, cost savings, and quality improvements. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: Lead innovation trials, commissioning runs, and support Operations with qualification of new product & process technologies, as well as improving existing process technologies. Develop standard operating procedures, manufacturing specifications etc. and communicate effectively with key stakeholders in manufacturing, copacker etc. Apply fundamental engineering principles - mass & energy balances, heat transfer, designed experimentation & data analyses, process flow diagrams etc. for appropriate decision making and documentation for knowledge capture. Interface with equipment suppliers, service providers, manufacturing facilities and relevant business functions, including marketing and supply chain, to achieve goals. Assess, with guidance, legal and environmental aspects, and patent opportunities, for new technologies/processes. Collect and analyze data from suppliers, plant operations, customers, and consumers. Design and execute experiments at supplier sites, internal plant operations, and co-man locations Validate improvements/corrective actions that will deliver the desired benefits. Willingness to embrace changing business priorities and ambiguity. Qualifications Education: BS in Engineering is required, Chemical Engineering is preferred Experience: 0-2 years of experience in the food industry process development roles. Experience in process optimization, scale up from bench to pilot plant to plant production, cost savings and quality improvements. Experience in pet food processing, extrusion or retort is a plus.
