**Title:** Engineer **Location:** United States-Illinois-Rockford **Job Number:** 16820 **SUMMARY** Performs a variety of engineering work including design, analysis, substantiation, certification, drawing interpretation and project management as related to transport category aircraft. **SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Create step-by-step work instructions for the removal and installation of hardware and components as they relate to aircraft structures, systems, interiors and avionics. + Troubleshooting assistance support of noted aircraft systems. + Create engineering installation and assembly drawings using AutoCAD or similar software programs.The candidate should already understand standard engineering drawing convention. + Repair, design and analysis of metal, composite and metal-bond structures + Knowledge of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs - from Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations) as they apply to transport category aircraft. + Knowledge of cabin specific regulatory requirements, including flammability and crashworthiness as examples. + Familiarity with the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) process. + Familiarity with the FAA Airworthiness Directive (AD) process and rules governing disposition. + Translates guidance and engineering principles and procedures into usable working direction for assigned projects. + Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, preferably those created by Boeing, Airbus and Douglas.They should also be familiar with the documents needed to routinely maintain commercial aircraft:Structural Repair Manual (SRM), Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), etc. + Ability to analyze Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) source documents (Service Bulletins, Service Letters, etc.) and make independent decisions based on analysis of available data regarding incorporation on Customer’s fleet. + Ability to quickly learn and adhere to Operator’s specific processes and procedures. + Project Management skills; multi-tasking. + Gathers, coordinates and applies basic engineering data using established and appropriate or defined engineering principles and procedures. + Applies area of specialty to design, develop and implement creative and innovative solutions to difficult problems. + Reviews progress with management and recommends corrective action along with review of alternatives. + Performs such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct; ensures adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
