Overview As an Engineer you will provide Energy Efficiency (EE) technical expertise and oversight for the assessment and development of installation solutions for Customer energy measures, facilities, programs, and technologies. Senior Engineers also serve as technical guidance leads, supporting and coaching other engineers, sharing knowledge, and increased understanding of RI Energy’s energy efficiency programs and services. This role is a key member of our EE deal team that drives RI Energy to meet its clean energy and energy efficiency goals. #INDRIE #RIE Responsibilities Customer Orientation & Communication Demonstrate strong interpersonal & communication skills. Take personal responsibility to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal deal teams as well as external vendors, to facilitate prompt communications, successful project management & the overall efficient delivery of EE programs to Customers. Analytical Thinking Conduct technical reviews to support the design of solutions that enhance RI Energy’s EE programs for Customers. Coordinate internal and external resources to perform technical assistance studies, commissioning analyses and reports. Research, analyze and evaluate developments with electric and gas technologies to identify how to integrate into cost-effective Customer projects. Balance the clear & consistent administration of regulated procedures & standards with each Customer’s unique solution and overall satisfaction. Attention to Detail Manage the day-to-day relationship with external vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure adherence to standards and best cost-effective outcomes for RI Energy & Customers. Monitor the quality of vendor work and check to ensure procedures are followed, to ensure that the technical input being provided is accurate and adds value. Challenge existing policies, procedures and technologies and continuously seek ways to ensure the technical support team delivers the highest quality Customer service, in a cost-effective manner. Additional Accountabilities for Senior Engineers: *Position will be filled based on the qualified candidate's background and experience Senior Engineers are expected to deliver on the key accountabilities list above as well as those listed below: Work with the Supervisor to help lead, motivate, and develop the EE technical engineering team, provide technical guidance, monitor bandwidths, and recognize when to allocate resources to ensure EE programs are delivered in line with Customer expectations and business objectives. Draw up technical requirement specifications to help design EE and energy management strategies to assist our Strategy & Policy team and enhance business performance. Work with the Supervisor or Manager to evaluate & help negotiate with external vendors, contractors and consultants regarding standards of work and levels of service to ensure best value for RI Energy. Translate EE objectives into clearly defined business cases, costs, or schedules to support the company’s gas and electric energy efficiency goals. Utilize established financial systems to track EE and O&M budgets to ensure the group meets its financial obligations. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required in mechanical / electrical / chemical engineering, other related science or technology discipline. Master’s degree, PE & CEM certification preferred. Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of technical experience, preferably in a Customer or client facing role. High level of technical knowledge with building and process energy systems, Energy Efficiency principles, clean energy design practices, energy codes and standards in the building environment. Prior work experience in performing building or process design reviews and working successfully with consulting engineers and contractors is preferred. Demonstrate the ability to analyze a problem, interpret information, anticipate obstacles, and process solutions. Furthermore, to clearly articulate the findings, and provide next steps. Understand the theory behind policies and processes, demonstrating the ability to challenge existing processes, technologies, and ways of working e.g., taking action to avoid future crisis, or creating opportunities to improve existing practices & drive greater efficiencies. Experience managing the work of a technical unit in a strong team culture & environment is strongly preferred at the Senior level. Senior Engineers should be able to understand and identify the training or developmental needs of others and help design and establish new programs to support them. This position will be filled at the appropriate level based on the qualified candidate's background and experience.
