Engineer II

Located in our Madrid - Spain office, the Mechanical Engineer will work for technical activities at multiple projects related to Nuclear Industry, in a global environment and in compliance with the Westinghouse policies and procedures.

 

 

Key responsibilities:

The range of technical competencies is multidisciplinary:

Mechanical & fluid systems: thermal fluid system networks, HVAC, Fire Protection, compressed air, vacuum systems, water and steam networks, drainage, gas and liquid fuel storage and distribution, and related mechanical equipment Cranes and handling systems: hoisting/lifting systems, steel structures.

 

Perform a variety of engineering work as Individual Contributor. Capable of assuming technical engineering responsibility and independent engineering tasks and act as reviewer and verifier of the work of others in analyses and design activities in the range of technical competencies.

Resolutions to difficult technical issues but typically not complex, justify designs, collection and interpretation of engineering data, development of project design basis, development of process and system diagrams, P&IDs, technical specifications, technical reports, calculations and sizing analysis, and originate detailed engineering. Verification of drawings, design reviews, engineering change control documents, Engineering Reports and calculation notes are often a work product. Ensures conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.

Ensure work delivered is within the defined scope and completed to time and budget. Address commercial impacts if required.

Production of documentation that is technically accurate, grammatically correct, correctly formatted and professionally presented.

Developed the formal project when it requires construction or installation permit from Spanish authorities, act and sign as Author (Ingeniero proyectista).

Collaborate globally within the Westinghouse Engineering framework with a variety of more senior engineers, designers and international environment in which the communications require to be direct, accurate, clear and relevant.

 

Key Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, member of the applicable professional association (Colegiado en la rama de ingeniería correspondente)

At least 5+ years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering positions preferable in Nuclear, but also acceptable other Energy, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Pharmaceutical or similar industry.

Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes and directives and how they should be applied. Desirable to be familiar with ASME and ANSI codes related to nuclear industry, ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, CMAA, FEM, nuclear regulatory guides and instructions (from NRC, CSN, etc.), and Spanish and European standards (UNE EN ISO) associated to mechanical & fluid systems. Proactive to work when required with standards and regulation in different languages to English or Spanish.

Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and techniques applicable to mechanical design and in the production of Technical documentation as well.

Software skills: AFT Arrow, Fhatom, advanced level EXCEL and WORD

Fluent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English. Valuable additional languages (French, German, Italian, etc.).

Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment.
