Product Engineer -

 

The Product Engineer designs and directs installation of electromechanical products and aftermarket products in the industrial door and dock industry.  Design, develop, support, and improve new and existing product and components and fabricate test prototypes ensuring product integrity, technical accuracy, and applicability.  This position will be onsite at our Mequon, WI facility.

 

What will you be doing:

Manage projects from start through completion while communicating with other functional groups. Plans, designs, and develops products and components. Prepares product or system layout and detailed drawings schematics, and test plans. Determines feasibility of designing new or replacement products to establish performance standards. Publish technical bulletins and notifications to customers and suppliers. Use engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks. Creates bills of materials using CAD and ERP systems. Provides design, prototype, and validation support for improving new and existing products. Oversees installation and testing of field test products. Investigates returns (RMA) and manufacturing and quality issues with products. Initiates corrective actions, and engineering changes as necessary to enhance products. Provides technical information concerning manufacturing, processing techniques, materials, and process advantages which affect long range product and engineering planning. Develops work instructions to assist with the manufacturing processes and/or installation of products. Monitors technology markets and customer feedback to identify and understand new product opportunities.

 

What are we looking for:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. 5-7 years of engineering experience, preferably in product design engineering duties with a strong background within a manufacturing environment. Advanced/Intermediate experience with industry drafting and CAD standards, product design, GD&T, using CAD tools, FEA, and DFMEA. Electrical circuits, hydraulic circuits, and welding standards experience a plus. Significant “hands on the product” experience with ability to recognize problems, predict potential outcomes, and implement countermeasures quickly to avoid problems. Working knowledge and experience with Adobe InDesign and Illustrator software a plus.
