Key Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor operations and report on production and process performance. Ensure plant processes operate within prescribed parameters. Oversee quality performance to meet product and customer specifications. Conduct plant and process health risk assessments and HAZOP studies. Investigate quality non-conformances and implement corrective actions. Champion process safety and ensure compliance with safety standards. Assist production and engineering teams with technical fault-finding and root cause analysis (RCA). Develop and implement solutions to improve operational efficiency. Design basic process engineering improvements. Maintain and enhance process and operating models. Conduct production reconciliation and metallurgical accounting. Evaluate and implement capital projects. Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to best practices. Develop and maintain operational reports and procedures. Conduct desktop and pre-feasibility studies to improve processes. Align operations with excellence frameworks and ISO standards. Education:
BSc degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering. Experience:
5 to 10 years of operational experience in a pyrometallurgy operations enviroment. Skills & Knowledge:
Experience in chemical and mineral processing and pyrometallurgical operations. Proficiency in operational monitoring, production reporting, and quality performance analysis. Strong understanding of process safety, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments. Expertise in technical fault-finding, RCA, and basic process engineering design. Ability to implement capital and engineering projects to improve operations. Knowledge of ISO standards and process operating models. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
