EMS Medcom Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY
The EMS Communications Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of an assigned communication platoons. This includes but is not limited to the following.
* Situational awareness of daily Medcom operations.
* Initial remediation of 9-1-1 and transport concerns, to be forward to the respective on-duty battalion chief.
* Proficiency/understanding and the ability to function in all operational Medcom positions
* Live time asset monitoring The EMS Communications Supervisor is the lead communicator for a specific platoon and will operate one of the positions during their shift. The EMS Communications Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of an assigned communication platoons. The EMS Communications Supervisor will report to the Assistant Chief as assigned by the EMS Department Director. The EMS Communications Supervisor will not have direct reports. The EMS Communications Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the assigned platoon, which dispatches assets who provide emergency medical care to the citizens of Atlantic and Cape May County including the surrounding areas. The EMS Communications Supervisor is role model for the AtlantiCare mission, vision and values, responsible for initially resolving communications service issues while operating within departmental guidelines and forwarding all concerns to the on-duty battalion chief. EMS Communications Supervisor is responsible for identifying ways to best utilize system resources and maximizing performance through continual reassessment of system needs through proper asset deployment. The EMS Communications Supervisor is responsible for participating in new hire orientation, communicating performance expectations, and providing live time feedback to staff on a consistent basis. All administration duties will be filtered through the on-duty Battalion Chief or the Assistant Chief over communications. This position supports organizational goals through supporting the Health System's Mission and Values, providing high quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts, demonstrating advanced leadership traits, a commitment to excellence while fostering teamwork, accountability and transparency.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's in EMS, Business or Public Administration or related field degree preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current BLSHCP required. Completion of the National Incident Command Courses, ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 required or within 6 months. Valid Driver's License required. Certified as a NJ EMT, Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) and 911 Communications Officer in the state of NJ required. National Incident Command Course 300 preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years work experience as EMT/EMD required. Previous Supervisory Experience preferred. Effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required. Knowledge of all aspects of emergency policies and procedures and clinical applications required. Strong Leadership qualities required. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, blood borne pathogens, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping and crouching a majority of the workday. This position requires pushing and pulling equipment up to 50 pounds and lifting up to 200 pounds with assistance. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
This position reports to department leadership and supervises the daily operations of the assigned Communication Center platoon.
