Employee Relations Director
Overview SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking an Employee Relations Director. As a member of the HR Leadership Team, the Director, Employee Relations, is responsible for leading the employee relations function within all areas of the SOSi organization. This role involves developing strategies and implementing practices that enhance employee engagement, foster a positive work environment, and ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations. The Employee Relations Director will work closely with SOSi management, leadership, legal team members, and employees to resolve conflicts, address grievances, and promote a culture of fairness and transparency. Essential Job Duties Leads and facilitates the employee relations program and related functions. Develops and pursues specific goals, objectives, and strategic projects for improvement in areas of employee relations. Oversees the implementation, maintenance, and update of employee relations policies, procedures, and best practices while ensuring alignment with current law. Assists managers and supervisors in understanding and implementing company policies related to performance, the workplace environment, disciplinary action, and related topics. Develops and implements employee relations strategies and creates and executes comprehensive plans to address employee concerns, improve workplace satisfaction, and support organizational objectives. Leverages experience supporting a global workforce, addressing issues and establishing geographic specific employment practices in collaboration with the SOSi legal and operations teams. Mediates disputes between employees and management, providing guidance and support to ensure fair and equitable outcomes. Communicates with employees, managers, and SOSi leadership regarding employee relations concerns; provides guidance and specific recommendations and options for resolution of issues. Advises employees on concerns related to applicable equal employment opportunity laws including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and other similar federal and state laws. Ensures the organization is in compliance with all relevant labor laws, regulations, and internal policies. Conducts training sessions for managers and employees on employee relations topics, including conflict resolution, communication, and legal compliance. Oversees, in conjunction with the SOSi legal team, the investigation and resolution of employee complaints and grievances, maintaining detailed records and documentation. Develops and implements initiatives to enhance employee morale, satisfaction, and retention. Monitors employee relations trends and metrics, providing regular reports and recommendations to senior management. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of experience in employee relations or a related HR function, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with employees, boards, officials, directors, and other stakeholders. In-depth understanding of labor laws, regulations, and best practices in employee relations. Thorough understanding of human resources and labor relations principles, practices, and procedures. Working understanding of statistical concepts and methods of data collection. Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and communication skills; ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion. Ability to compile, research, and analyze information. Ability to compose and present comprehensive reports. Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent management skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Certifications: Professional HR certificate (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is highly desirable. Work Environment The Employee Relations Director will work in an office environment, with occasional travel required for meetings, training sessions, and other work-related events. The role may involve handling stressful situations and requires a high level of emotional intelligence and resilience.
