EMPI Analyst I Part Time

Principal Accountabilities:
+ Analyzes, assesses, and performs patient identity investigations to best maintain the integrity of each patient record within the enterprise master patient index ensuring one record per patient is preserved and ensuring the integrity of each record is maintained
+ Maintains the integrity of the Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) to ensure that patient health information and demographic data reside under a unique medical record number
+ Investigates and resolves potential chart duplications and patient registration errors in a timely manner
+ Maintains all assigned HIM Data Integrity work queues
+ Monitors and works all assigned Help Desk tickets and requests
+ Communicates and collaborates with internal and external customers to resolve complex chart issues. Works closely with Patient Financial Services (PFS) to ensure charges are appropriately aligned with correct patient/encounter. Partners with Privacy and Compliance in cases of fraud and stolen identity.
+ Assists in identification and communication for areas of non-compliance with established policies and procedures to decrease the creation of duplicate medical records, overlays and other data integrity issues.
+ Demonstrates advanced critical thinking, reasoning, problem solving, and decision-making ability
+ Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelors or Associate degree in Health Information Management (HIM), Health Information Technology (HIT), or related field. Or, Bachelor or Associate degree with applicable/supplemental experience working for a healthcare organization or equivalent work history
+ At least two years relevant experience working in acute care hospital or relevant area.
+ Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential preferred
+ Experience working with the Epic EMR software preferred
