Emergency Services Operator - Represented/Tariff

About You and this Role

Emergency Services Operator (EMT/Firefighter) in Texas Operations A&B Sites at the Freeport site.  The Freeport site has over 3000 employees and is a 24 hour / 7-day operation including holidays.  Dow is looking for technically capable Emergency Services Technicians who embrace change, adapt quickly, make decisions rapidly, possess self-confidence and leadership skills and enjoy being lifelong learners.  Dow offers a variety of career opportunities to assume responsibility for business accomplishments as indicated by "measures of performance" and to participate in group activities. 

 

Responsibilities

Perform all work activities in a safe team environment and follow operating discipline, procedures and practices to ensure a safe and efficient operation of assigned duties related to the function.Physical ability to lift hoses, climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs, bolt flanges, operate valves, fire pumps and other emergency equipment and vehicles as part of the job.Utilize troubleshooting skills to resolve deviations and problems and accurately complete all required paperwork.Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve all process issues.

 

Requirements

A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required. Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) or National Registry Paramedic certification.Ability to work in inclement weather.Ability to work a rotating 12-hour shift, overtime, holidays, and weekends.Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and can learn new systems quickly.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Good interpersonal skills are required. Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.A self-starter who can identify, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks.Must have a current, valid US driver’s license. A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process. 

 

Preferred Skills

Firefighter 1 certification.Industrial firefighting experience or process operator experience.Certification in confined space / high angle rescue.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to do the following with or without a reasonable accommodation. 

Must be willing and able to work in such environments wearing safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes. Must be willing and able to use respirators.  Must be willing and able to work in such environments with frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Must be willing and able to work in such environments with tight or closed-in spaces.Must be willing and able to climb stairs/ladders and working high off the ground.Must be willing and able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
