Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an Exciting Potential Opportunity for an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Instructor supporting BAMC Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX.

 

Job Requirements:

Degree/Education: Graduate from a National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) program is required. A minimum of an associate degree related to the teaching discipline awarded from an accredited institution that demonstrates sufficient justification to meet the CCAF teaching discipline requirement. Knowledge and skills as they pertain to Emergency Medical Technician Department of Transportation (DOT) curriculum and objectives, advanced trauma treatment using tenants of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC3) is desired but not required. Knowledge and skills of a first responder; and of pre-hospital care as it applies to the 4N0X1 (Air Force Medical Technician). Knowledge and skill of limited medications as they apply to limited primary care; of physical and emotional reactions to a variety of treatment procedures, medical evaluation, procedures and treatment, trauma scenario development.Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Possess and maintain a national certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Nationally Registered Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (NRAEMT), or Paramedic from the NREMT. Additionally, the HCWs will maintain Basic Life Support certification through the American Red Cross.Experience: EMT instructor should possess no less than five years of EMS field experience as an EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic after certification.Licensure/Registration: All licensure/certification fees, as well as completion of mandatory continuing education units (CEU’s) required for re-licensure/certification, are the responsibility of the incumbent. All licensure/certifications must be available and released to the hiring authority 10 days prior to employment.Internship: All HCWs are required to complete the CCAF teaching internship requirement. Minimum period of internship is 30 days from the DAID with a maximum period is 12 months from the DAID. This includes 120 hours of supervised teaching, 30 hours minimum of curriculum development, 30 hours minimum of test administration and review, academic counseling of students, instructor performance feedback, and instructor subject matter testing. The subject-matter qualification assessment is accomplished by successfully completing required tests or performance demonstration. Faculty must score a minimum of 90% or better on the exam or earn a satisfactory rating on the performance evaluation. HCWsl must receive three evaluations within 365 days of the set DAID; two evaluations within 90 days of the Assigned to Course (ATC) date and the third evaluation by the 365th day from the DAID’s date. Evaluations must be annotated on the METC form 41-01 (March 2015). All instructor personnel are required to sign the DD Form 2982, Recruiter/Trainer Prohibited Activities Acknowledgment. Required per DoD Instruction 1304.33, Standardized Protection Policies Prohibiting Inappropriate Relations Between Recruiters and Recruits, and Trainers and Trainees. New instructors will not be provided a DAID until the signed form is filed in the instructor record. Form is required prior to student interaction. DD Form 2982 must be resigned annually in the month of December.

Job Duties: Not limited to;

EMT Instructors shall provide relevant Course Instruction support in subject areas listed below. The curriculum will be provided by the Government. The desired result is to enable the Emergency Medical Technician Units to react more quickly and efficiently to emergency situations and in prolonged hospital care with encountered obstacles using the tools available in the performance measures. A minimum of two (2) certified instructors are required per class.Instructor is responsible for providing quality standardized instruction and testing for the US Air Force Medical Technician.Conduct instruction in a variety of environments; to include: classrooms, laboratories, or outdoors at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.Instruction will include didactic and psychomotor training in an academic setting for basic EMT and limited primary care. Subjects presented include basic anatomy and physiology, cardiac life support, sanitation and first aid procedures, shock management, respiratory maintenance, hemorrhage control, emergency wound treatment, management of fractures, burns, and injuries from chemical agents, emergency medical treatment, basic nursing skills and advanced nursing skills.Use appropriate training aids including computer-based material and devices approved by the Program Director, AMSA and listed in the Plan of Instruction (POI) to execute and enhance training outcomes.Review current lesson plans with handbooks, study guides, and tests. Designs, prepares, and keeps other instructional aids including flip charts, viewgraphs, slides, etc. current.Use up-to-date knowledge of advanced medical subjects (standards of care) and EMT processes, practices, procedures that are pertinent and applied in the program of instruction
