This position has been designated as On-Site at our York, PA facility and is considered safety-sensitive.  

Job Summary:

The Embedded Systems Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager. The Embedded Systems Engineer will have primary responsibility to develop and execute the complete embedded systems development lifecycle for the Company’s products with the goal of creating scalable and optimized software and hardware systems.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Embedded Systems Engineer will have core duties and responsibilities to include and not be limited to:

Design and implement hardware embedded systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment, including design, schematic capture, component specification and PCB layoutsDesign and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deploymentDesign, develop, code, test and debug system softwareReview code as well as hardware designAnalyze and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of system resourcesIntegrate and validate new product designsSupport software QAOptimize I/O performanceProvide post production supportInterface with other design and development staff within Engineering DepartmentAssess third party and open source softwareCompletes / maintains drawing packages for electrical component assemblies and electrical schematics.Designs, develops and documents systems and subsystems for new or existing refrigeration units and generator sets.  Special focus on the design and prototype of electrical control panels and mechanical components with accompanying documentation.Completes work from input requirements or instructions – including electrical standards, national and international – to design new systems or redesign existing systems to improve our products.Ensures that new and existing designs are compliant with relevant regulatory standards – both national and internationalMaintain friendly, cooperative relations with customers, vendors, company personnel and management.Follow all Company personnel policies and procedures throughout the office.Demonstrate the ability to tactfully handle difficult situations.Anticipate problems and provide contingency plans and recommendations.Organize personal schedule to maximize productivity and time management.Perform other tasks or assignments as delegated by the Engineering Manager and/or COO or their designate.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science with a minor or coursework in hardware and software designMinimum of two (2) years of professional working experience in a related fieldDemonstrable coding proficiency with C/C++At least two (2) years of practical working experience with: Programming; Testing; Hardware and PCB design using ORCAD; Data acquisition; and Microprocessor systems and PCB design.  Minimum of one (1) year professional experience coding and debugging

Desired:

Familiarity with development of real-time software for embedded systemsDemonstrable coding proficiency in C/C++, MATLAB, Python, VBA, etc.Experience and demonstrable proficiency with Linux real-time operating systemsExperience and demonstrable proficiency with iMX93 and PIC microprocessor systemsExpertise with commercial software submission and qualification processDemonstrable competence with SPI, I2C, RS 422, RS 485, and CAN busProfessional working experience with temperature and pressure transducers, both 0-10v and 4-20 mAProfessional working experience with VFD’s, and stepper driven valvesDemonstrable expertise with ORCAD EDMA softwareDemonstrable knowledge of use of AutoCAD LT and/or SolidworksDemonstrable knowledge of data structures, algorithms and software engineering principles.

Measurement

The Embedded Systems Engineer is measured according to the following criteria

Completing timely designs and related documentation to meet design criteriaMeeting project schedules including assisting the Production Department if necessaryReducing costs and designing with both innovation and cost in mind as well as within a projects costing budget and scope.Ensuring all design criteria and required qualification standards are metOther duties as assigned

Compensation:    

Base Pay Range: $ 55,000-95,000/annually.
