Job Title: Embedded Systems Engineer

Job Description

We are currently seeking a System Engineer – Cloud FW & SW to join our team.

ResponsibilitiesOwn functional requirements, architecture, and interfaces of features that span across different Cloud, App, and Embedded Firmware teams.Translate feature requirements into technical requirements and discrete decoupled module/component definitions that can be consumed by Cloud, App SW, and Embedded Firmware teams.Design software architecture, including block diagrams, flow charts, state machines, and sequence diagrams.Lead and oversee Cloud, App, and Firmware modules validation on subsystem and end-to-end levels.Serve as the key technical contact for marketing, product managers, code developers, and systems engineers.Participate in design and code reviews to ensure quality, avoid unnecessary complexity, and advocate for clarity.Focus on Cloud software modules responsible for data efficiency, collection, organization, storage, and display.Work on Embedded Firmware modules responsible for cloud and app communication, data collection and organization, and settings management.Manage interfaces and data models between clouds, apps, and embedded IoT devices.Develop strategies for remote and local Firmware updates on IoT devices and ensure versions compatibility.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, Controls Engineering, Mathematics).3+ years of experience in a similar role with a proven record of delivering complex IoT offers with numerous embedded devices.Experience in a fast-paced product development environment, team player.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Experience in cross-functional multi-disciplinary R&D environments.Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or C#.Familiarity with C/C++ languages (Linux environment preferred).Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, such as continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD).Experience with Cloud APIs: Websockets, REST, Webserver etc.Experience with schemas and data structures like JSON.Familiarity with Ethernet-based communication protocols like TCP/IP, UDP, FTP etc.Knowledge of networking concepts such as IP addressing and DNS.Familiarity with embedded protocols like Zigbee, CAN, RS485 etc.Experience testing and troubleshooting SW APIs.Additional Skills & Qualifications5+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer.Experience working end-to-end on projects.Experience gathering, developing requirements, tracking them, and testing.Proficiency in C or C++, Python, or C#.Experience with physical products, IoT experience preferred.Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) is a plus.Experience with continuous integration (CI) is a plus.Work Environment

The role is hybrid, requiring 3 days in the office each week. The work environment is fast-paced and collaborative, involving the development of cutting-edge technologies in residential energy management. The position may involve working with various technologies and equipment, including IoT devices and embedded systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
