Summary Reclamation is seeking a career professional looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise as a Electrician (Power Systems) (Sub-Operator). Duty Location: Hungry Horse, Montana https://www.usbr.gov/pn/about/hr/area-information.html Responsibilities - Responsible for locating trouble and maintaining electrical and solid state equipment in a hydroelectric generating station, switchyard, dam and appurtenant structures. - Connects, services and troubleshoots up to 230kv power transformers, distribution transformers, instrument transformers, switches, switchboards, meters, relays, lifting equipment up to 290 ton cranes, elevators with 10,000 pound load capacity, and power circuit breakers up to 230kv and communication circuits. - Interprets and works from electrical schematics, drawings, diagrams and blueprints in performing above work; is proficient in the use of tools and equipment of the trade. - Observes and practices safe working habits and procedures required by the electrical industry and the project. - When assigned as a powerplant operator, duties include starting and stopping hydroelectric generating units, operating valves, gates and all related electrical and mechanical equipment as directed by dispatchers or directed by supervisors. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. You must be suitable for federal employment, determined by a background investigation. You must maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times as the position requires operation of government vehicles on government and public roads. Failure to maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times will result in removal from the position. You will be required to obtain a successful pre-employment physical examination by a licensed physician certifying your ability to perform the duties of this position. A physical exam may not be required if a comparable agency approved examination was performed within the last 12 months. The cost of the exam will be reimbursed by the agency. The Electrician (Power Systems) (Sub-Operator) position has a 3 step pay system and applicants initially hired into this position/pay system will be hired at the step 1 wage rate of $50.63 per hour. After a one-year period from the date of hire and upon performing successfully in this position and approved by the supervisor, the incumbent may be advanced to the step 2 wage rate of $52.74 per hour. Again, after a one-year period, successful job performance and supervisory approval, the incumbent may be advanced to the step 3 wage rate of $54.85 per hour. Annual wage adjustments are reviewed and adjusted the first full pay period in May of each year. Reclamation has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.
