Job Title: Qualified Electrician – Solar Projects
Location: Pretoria, South Africa

Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and qualified electrician to join our client’s growing team specializing in solar energy projects. As part of our solar projects company, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in solar power installations. This role is based in Pretoria and offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-growing renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Install and maintain electrical systems for solar energy projects, including photovoltaic (PV) systems and associated electrical components. Perform electrical inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on solar installations to ensure proper functionality and safety. Read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and project blueprints to ensure accurate installation and wiring. Ensure all electrical installations comply with local electrical codes, safety standards, and regulations. Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure seamless execution of solar projects. Conduct regular maintenance and servicing of installed solar systems, identifying and rectifying any issues that may arise. Test and inspect electrical components, including inverters, batteries, and wiring, to ensure systems are running efficiently. Maintain accurate records of work completed, inspections, and maintenance reports. Provide guidance and support to junior staff and apprentices as needed.

Key Requirements:

Trade Qualification: Must be a qualified electrician (Red Seal or equivalent). Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in electrical installations, with a focus on renewable energy or solar power systems. Knowledge: In-depth understanding of electrical codes, safety standards, and solar energy systems. Technical Skills: Ability to work with electrical equipment, PV systems, inverters, and battery storage systems. Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities to identify and resolve electrical issues. Communication: Good communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members and clients. Physical Requirements: Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions. Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is preferred.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

Experience working with solar energy systems (grid-tied and off-grid systems). Familiarity with battery storage systems and electrical grid integration. Certification in solar PV installation (e.g., SANS 10142).
