Job Description

AECOM Buildings and Places team is currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Technologist  to join our London, ON based team.

Major Responsibilities:

The job incumbent will be a part of our Buildings and Places Team, a vibrant and growing business line which delivers engineering, architectural and project management services as well as planning and economic analysis for construction projects.  Project assignments may include, although not limited to: transportation, commercial, institutional, healthcare, pharmaceutical, water / waste water and transit facilities. 

Major Responsibilities: 

Developing various types of reports  including schematic design, design development, building assessment, and design build/assist scope of work documentsPreparing electrical drawings and specificationsImplement design concept through the preparation and production of drawings to detail lighting, power, fire alarm, and specialty low voltage systems rough-ins (i.e. telecomm., intrusion control, security, CCTV, door access controls, etc.)Providing technical and administrative support through all phases of the projectConduct necessary research to gather industry, field, and project specific dataEnsuring design conforms with all applicable codes and standards;Working with prime consultants, engineering consultants, and contractors; responding to technical queriesConstruction administration responsibilities:Attending site meetings and site reviews complete with reportsShop drawing reviewsSI and CCN preparations.Contractor`s change quotation reviewsProgress billing reviews Fire alarm verification report reviewsAble to work to tight schedulesSound judgment supported by excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skillsWell organized, self-directed work habits with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule tasks managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

At a very minimum, candidates must possess the following in order to be considered:       

Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology

Equivalent of experience and/or education may be considered.

Preferred Requirements: 

Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology + 2+ years of relevant experience preferredProficient in use of 2D-AutoCAD for creating electrical schematics, floor plans, and site plansExperience with Electrical load calculations, lighting design and analysisExperience in designing electrical power and lighting systemsProficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writingCommunications system design experience is a plusFamiliarity with OESC, OBC, IEEE, NFPA, and other industry standards and codes is a plusKnowledge with power analysis tools such as SKM and/or ETAP is a plusAnalytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilitiesAbility to communicate, coordinate, and work well with others both internally and externallyStrong verbal and written communication skills and commitment to technical excellence and qualitySelf-motivated and proactiveAnalytical, resourceful and detailed orientedA good team player and decision makerValid driver's license
