Daikin Applied is seeking an Electrical Product Engineer II who will research and develop functional specifications, technical designs, and support for the controls hardware, transformers, filters, VFDs and motors within the Daikin Applied products.

Location: Hybrid, Plymouth, MN

What you will do:

Prepare specifications for power electronic equipment to be used on equipment and be fluent with three phase and single phase power and control circuit design with experience reading and modifying system schematics in electro-mechanical machinery. Demonstrate proficiency with interpreting and developing controller logic and ladder style schematics Understand refrigerant system design for air conditioning systems as well as manufacturing processes associated with the construction of those systems Prepare test and qualification plans for power electronic equipment Review test data from power electronic equipment to evaluate suitability and performance Drive collaboration with partner electrical engineering and design center based in Mexico to develop expertise in design, system, and fabrication of control panels Identify new ideas for cost improvement and review cost improvement projects for feasibility, including estimating schedule and financial analysis Drive partnerships between Sales, Applications, Designers, Manufacturing, Lab personnel, and Field Service personnel to deliver engineering solutions. Lead and manage smaller projects involving all of these partnerships Work directly with the subassemblies of the electrical equipment supporting controls products Design electrical motors, control motors, electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, domestic and internal purposes Designs test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products Navigate bill of material systems to find and identify errors in the initial product design before they are experienced on the production floor Provide quick reaction to issues that reach the factory floor by partnering with the production team to assess the problem and identify the solution path Determine feasibility and design of special requests from sales and marketing to meet applicable code(s) and Daikin standard design practices Use computer assisted engineering and design software and simulation to perform engineering tasks Stay abreast of emerging technologies & maintain technical competency in relevant subject matter areas via industry relationships, professional associations (ASHRAE, AHRI), and technical publications to maintain awareness of basic research activities, materials or processes, working fluids, regulatory implications, & supplier or competitive actions Collaborate or coordinate efforts necessary to maintain compliance with agencies such as ETL, UL, and DOE

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering 3+ years of power electronic experience required in power design, power distribution, VFD's, electric and control motors PC skills including Microsoft Office applications. Strong organizational, interpersonal & communications skills. Ability to work autonomously, self-direct daily activities, lead by example, and take initiative. Strong technical writing skills Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of power electronic experience required in power design, power distribution, VFD's, electric and control motors 1+ years of relevant experience in the HVAC industry Experience in the HVAC industry Project management experience

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $72,000 - $117,200 in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
