Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

Scope of the Position

E&I Technicians are primarily responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and instrument equipment’s in accordance with manufacturer’s or site specifications using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. The technician is also required to carry out several mechanical maintenance duties as assigned.

Position: Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

Shift:  Monday to Friday 40 hours/on call after hours

 

Key Responsibilities

Performing tasks list to include, but not limited to, installation, testing, calibration, and repairs of pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, indicating, and control instruments / equipment. Interface with OEM’s and vendors as necessary. Support inventorying and management of spare parts. Recommend improvement to the existing instrument, controls, mechanical, and electrical systems or equipment in order to improve reliability, accuracy, or further optimize process. Supports the PM/PdM program by ensuring a high quality workmanship. Accurately completes all work performed according to work instructions, including proper documentation. Completes work orders using CMMS (facility dude) system. Supports site safety programs. Keep the Maintenance Manager abreast of job status. Support/leads failure analysis process by discussing the causes of equipment failure with other stakeholders. Responsible for good housekeeping in the shop and at the job site. Must be able to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) deemed necessary by ESHA, site leadership team, and corporate safety guidelines for each job task. Perform assigned preventive and corrective maintenance on plant systems and equipment’s. Coordinate equipment availability with the appropriate personnel. Operation of a forklift truck, aerial man lift, railcar mover, pay-loader, and passing a company administered proficiency test is required.

 

What You Need To Be Successful

2 Years Associate Degree in Electrical or Instrumentation area of concentration. 3-5 years of E&I experience (preferably in a chemical manufacturing operation). Knowledge of NFPA 70E and NEC regulations and local codes. Detailed knowledge of HART-based communicators. Experience working on utility equipment’s such as Boilers, Compressors, etc… Strong written and verbal skills. Ability to read blueprints, sketches, E&I drawings, and P&ID. Must have an understanding of units of measure, and perform conversions. Ability to communicate with courtesy and tact when furnishing or obtaining information from both fellow workers and other departments. Experience operating a forklift, front-end loader, and or other heavy equipment. CMMS user experience Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision. Highly motivated, energetic, and enjoys working as part of a team. Must be available to work overtime as needed for business continuity, this include (but not limited to) call-outs on off-shifts and weekend.
