We are looking for a skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Inspector to oversee and supervise the execution of electrical construction work on major projects, with a focus on solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This role involves ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will act as the Owner’s Engineer on-site, providing essential supervision and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Key Responsibilities:

On-Site Supervision: Perform duties as the Electrical & Instrumentation Inspector on-site, ensuring all electrical construction activities are executed in line with the construction contract and project requirements. Client Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for electrical construction supervision, handling progress reports, safety assessments, financial recommendations, quality control, and design modifications. Build Trusted Relationships: Collaborate closely with the Project Manager, client, and contractor staff, fostering a strong, cooperative work environment. Emphasize Safety: Promote and enforce safe construction practices on-site, setting an example through leadership in safety standards. Project Monitoring & Reporting: Utilize effective project management systems to monitor progress, report regularly, and ensure project timelines are met. Quality Control: Ensure quality control procedures are in place, implemented, and continuously improved. Participate in audits as required by contract specifications and internal standards. Review & Approve Plans: Evaluate contractor’s method statements and construction plans, providing feedback and approving them as needed to ensure proper phasing and timing of operations. Contract Administration: Define and manage the scope of work for sub-consultants and ensure their effective engagement throughout the project. Risk Management: Identify, manage, and report project risks, ensuring the team has effective strategies in place to mitigate them. Review Claims & Documentation: Assess and review contractual claims from contractors, providing recommendations for approval by the employer. Technical Inputs: Contribute to safety and buildability reviews, evaluate design proposals, and provide technical expertise to enhance project outcomes. Project Reports: Provide regular inputs and updates in project reports as required, ensuring all stakeholders are well-informed on progress and challenges.

 

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 3-5+ years in Electrical & Instrumentation inspection within the power plant sector, with experience in solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Technical Expertise: Proven experience with SCADA systems for solar PV farms and/or BESS, as well as knowledge in loop checking, wiring continuity, color coding, and startup troubleshooting. Skills: Strong understanding of materials, methods, specifications, and safety protocols, especially in hazardous location identification within power plant industries. Adaptability: Willingness to travel and work on-site as required, ensuring hands-on supervision and issue resolution. Communication & Leadership: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across different teams and lead through example in safety and quality standards.
