Manages Engineering Life Cycle Support team. This entails oversight of machine production, machine installation support, managing infield repair order estimating and engineering tasks, as well as functioning as focal point for engineering in Crosby. Resources to support these tasks will be primarily supplied from the lifecycle engineering team that reports to the Manager. Other electrical and mechanical engineers that support as subject matter experts will report to engineering managers based Crosby or Atlanta., with a dotted line to this position.
The Electrical Systems Life Cycle Support Manager will effectively interface with (1) Engineering Managers (2) Crosby Production Facility Managers (3) Parts Department (4) Service Department (5) Product Managers, (6) Machinery Commercial group for project estimating and scheduling and (7) Technical Services in both domestic and international groups/locations to achieve the goals of the department.
JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Managerial Responsibilities:
Act as team supervisor for lifecycle engineering team. Manage direct reports and coordinate with EE/ME Managers for other engineers in Crosby for scheduling, and assignment of resources to production and development projects and ongoing in-field activities. Manage Repair Order process within the ENG lifecycle support Group. Resources required to handle RO’s will report to this position. (Number and location to be determined.)
Technical Oversight:
Maintain Electrical & Mechanical Systems of installed machines, being primary contact for service activity, coordinating engineering efforts to resolve infield issues.Provide onsite support of machine production in Crosby as needed, providing coordination between Lifecycle Engineering Group and Crosby Manufacturing. Collaborate with product line managers, customers, sales and marketing to convert customer requirements and real-world feedback into practical packaging solutions and system performance requirements. Provide electrical design input, particularly field-based knowledge, during ideation phases of new projects.
Sales Support:
Develop estimates and schedules for Repair Orders of parts, service, or in-field modifications to include proposal generation and presentation to customers. Technical communications with customers as required managing customer expectations.
Field Support:
Manage engineering support for machinery issues after installation, including both remote and onsite support. Up to 25 % Travel required both domestic and international..
Required Skills
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
Manage multi-disciplinary team of engineers in automation machinery field support, including , mechanical systems, PLC systems, programming, and motion control (servos). Knowledge of production environment in beverage packaging plants and managing engineering support in that environment. Team leadership and training for design engineers providing support on-site at customer production facilities. Knowledge of PMD’s various product lines and utilizing subject matter experts to solve challenges Project management experience should include supervision of project teams, and interaction with and oversight of, industrial customer schedule, budget, and quality objectives. EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
Minimum ten years’ experience of electrical control design/build in packaging machinery or similar machinery, preferably in the beverage industry. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent technical experience. MBA a plus
Pay Range: $126,900.00 - $169,200.00
