Position Overview:

Siemens Mobility Customer Service is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Sacramento, CA!

This engineering position with Siemens Customer Service Group provides the opportunity to participate in the development of solutions for a variety of issues, including obsolescence, software optimization, and product improvement, to support our Rolling Stock customers through the life of their vehicles.

In conjunction with Product Management colleagues, capture engineering project requirements, including modifications and upgrades, as a result of either specific enquiries or pro-active product improvement opportunities.

Perform material specification, schematic preparation and appropriate follow-up.  Lead semi-complex design, development, testing and modifications of solutions. Participates in preparing explanations and clarifies information to enable proper interpretation and evaluation of specifications, performance characteristics or other technical data. Participates in communicating technical and commercial issues.  Participates in recommending new designs, new processes, or design changes to meet requirements.


What your day may look like:

Formalize engineering requirements in response to customer needs or product developments by producing Technical Concepts, supporting specifications, bills of materials, and validation plans as necessary.Develop electrical specifications for test equipment and systems.Design and update electrical schematics for rolling stock components and systems to support upgrades and product improvements.Provide engineering expertise during the Incident Repair Process to ensure value for money, maintain vehicle integrity, and ensure customer satisfaction. Develop generic repair instructions, processes, and work instructions as required.Monitor industry practices to identify applicable standards, processes, products, and materials that can enhance engineering solutions for maintenance, incident repairs, and development activities.Support technical bids for maintenance and overhaul projects.Provide system-level Maintenance Concepts, Depot Requirements, Special Tools specifications, and service requirements for project delivery.


What will make you successful in this role:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or advanced degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience in the rail industry.Develop electrical specifications for test equipment and systems.Proficiency in schematic creation and editing.Experience with PLC programming.Knowledge and experience with LabView.Familiarity with SAP.

The salary range for this position in Sacramento, CA $90,300-$106,000. The actual salary/wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
